San Sebastian – Palma |19-20 January

Written by JHS

St Sebastian is the Palma’s patron saint and his feast day is celebrated in style in Palma on the 19 January. The celebrations last from the 15th to the 24th and the 20th is a holiday in Palma.

The celebrations start on Friday 15th with a giants parade (Gegants) in Plaza Cort followed by a concert by the Gay Men’s Chorus.
On the 16th at 9pm: ”Palma 40 Pop 2016” in Plaza España

The main attraction is on the day of St Sebastian when bonfires are lit in the streets for the public to cook sausages (you can by packs of sausages on the night) and there is live music in all of the plazas in the centre of Palma with the largest stages in the Borne and Plaza España.

This year the huge Correfoc is on the night of the 23rd, dont forget to wear protective clothing and a hat if you’re planning on the full immersive experience!
