You may already be aware of the tragic accident and untimely death of Russell Stevens last Sunday the 7th of June while on the motorway to the Circuit Mallorca with his good friend Stefan in his Cobra. Stefan was injured and very shaken but is recovering well and has now been at home for several days. They were on their way to an event with several other car clubs for the benefit of Aspanob, a charitable association of parents with children that have cancer.
The response and messages of sympathy from Driving Mallorca and other local car club members’, petrol heads on and off the island and friends of Russell’s has been overwhelming.
The funeral and cremation will be held at Bon Sosec in Marratxi this coming Monday the 15th starting at 14:30 for those that would like to attend. There are road works in the area which are confusing so we would suggest you give yourselves plenty of time to get there.

Driving Mallorca is organising a Special Wednesday Meeting with a Minute of Silence as a tribute to Russell, aka Russell Jensen, on the 17th June at The Boathouse on the Paseo Maritimo in Palma from 18:00 onwards. The aim is to fulfil a dream of his which was to completely pack the car park with those special cars he loved. Whether it is a classic, sports, unusual or exotic car does not matter, please bring it along. If you do not have a special car like some of the people who come on Wednesdays do not worry, everybody is welcome although regular cars will not be allowed in the designated parking areas and will need to park elsewhere. There will be wine, beer, water and soft drinks available for 5 euros per person and a buffet available for 15 euros including the aforementioned drinks. Spirits, cocktails and similar will be available at regular bar prices. We hope you will come and join us.
Russell has touched the hearts, souls and minds of many people with his charismatic personality….. we continue… the drives and rallies will not stop but grow to become Russell’s dream that he always had.
