Hamilton Connections S.L., created and manages CONNECTING-MALLORCA, which is a directory of useful English speaking websites, yachting and other calendars, and a means of finding out more about the island and what’s on for residents and visitors.
Established in February 1996 by Jonathan Syrett as Hamilton Marine S.L., the company was responsible for the Camper & Nicholsons International brokerage, new construction and charter business in Spain until 2014 under a franchise type agreement. This was the only such arrangement during this time, and it was sold back to C&N in 2014. Hamilton Marine subsequently changed its name to Hamilton Connections and now encompasses a wider range of activities related to yachting and real estate. It incorporates Realty Mallorca and manages the Maritimo Business Center in the Club de Mar – Mallorca.
Hamilton Marine, representing C&N, was a substantial shareholder in Yacht and Jet Services S.L., one of only two companies responsible for the Valencia Superyacht Marina during the 2007 America’s Cup. It managed the marina and the superyacht berthing packages of the central T quay, providing services to superyachts during and leading up to, the America’s Cup Challenge.
Jonathan Syrett, representing C&N via Hamilton Marine, was one of the founding members of AEGY, the Spanish Large Yacht Association, where he served as vice-president for nine years. AEGY was instrumental in persuading the Spanish authorities to extend the IEDMT “matriculation tax” exemption to all commercial yachts wanting to charter in Spain and thus boosting the Spanish and Balearic charter market. It is concerned with all matters related to yachts over 24 metres.
An important milestone in the world of superyachting in Spain during the time that Jonathan Syrett was actively involved in AEGY was the turnaround of the Palma Boat Show and the creation of the Palma Superyacht Show which BYBA, The Balearic Yacht Brokers Association, has turned into a highly successful international event in just a few years.
Hamilton Marine and C&N played a major role in helping the Spanish superyacht building industry to get off the ground by selling, assisting in the construction, and marketing several superyachts built in Galicia including the 59 metre Metalships MAYBE, the largest megayacht designed and built in Spain.
Hamilton Connections is involved with a couple of very significant projects in Mallorca which will be revealed in the coming weeks and months via CONNECTING-MALLORCA.
Jonathan Syrett is the senior sales broker at C&N in Spain and has been working with the company in one way or another since 1985.
